This spring, my oldest discovered a love for baseball. It came at a time where most of life experiences were especially discouraging for Jason and I. We found so much joy in packing up our family and heading to baseball practices and games. That honestly is not something I ever anticipated - me enjoying being out and about for sporting events. But it reminded me of my own upbringing, summers at the softball fields. They were so much fun, and we felt safety and magic in something as simple as our nine-year-old’s love of the game.
My love of Norman Rockwell continues. My three boys loved heading outside together.
Having a catch.
Hitting practice.
Dean quoting verbatim the steps of batting: “load, stride, squash the bug, SWING”
They loved playing the game together.
I loved capturing it.

Love this!
My oldest is a baseball boy, too. I loved your captures and your description of the joy. Growing boys excited about something (baseball) is a treasure to behold ❤️ Squash the bug 🐜😆🫶🏻
